Heraklith® Tektalan A2 Wood Wool panels in high demand to meet stringent fire standards

When Heraklith® first produced multilayer panels with a rock mineral wool core nearly 40 years ago, it was an innovation some years ahead of its time. Today Heraklith® Tektalan A2 panels are used extensively to insulate new buildings because of their impressive combination of fire resistance, thermal and acoustic performance.

Now, they are also gaining a strong reputation as a fast and cost effective way to upgrade buildings that need to meet new fire and noise regulations. The panels add little volume to a structure so they make a good alternative to adding further layers of thicker and heavier materials.  Importantly, they act as an excellent heat shield, ensuring the integrity of the structure in case of fire.

Tektalan A2 panels are non-combustible (A2 fire classification) and have been independently tested to certify achieving a fire resistance of 120 minutes. They do not melt or produce burning droplets when exposed to fire, and are rated in the best class with regard to smoke development (s1).

Heraklith® Tektalan A2 panels are frequently fitted in large underground car parks, technical rooms and residential basements. However, their excellent price-quality ratio and availability in an extensive range factory-finished colours with matching fixing elements, also makes them a popular choice for public and residential buildings, offices and entertainment venues.

Tektalan panels are available as two- and three-layered products, the latter consisting of a Rock Mineral Wool layer between two Wood Wool boards. This configuration is specially designed to become permanently fixed to the concrete being poured over it during the construction process. The two layer panels are directly fixed with screws or dowels onto existing and new concrete surfaces.
